It doesn't bother me, but I have seen people act scared when presented with a http link to this forum. Since https works, why doesn't the forum remap all of the requests to https? I have done it before with apache modrewrite.

Re: https on the forum links
This seems interesting, as well as a greater approach since https is usually desired by people. I am no expert in networking, so can not have a firm say. @rockedge, please take a look at this, in case you missed the post.

Re: https on the forum links
The http remained as an alternative for older systems and for backward compatibility. Internally the forum maps to https.
On the old forum there are many many links that are http going to murga-linux/puppy that are URL rewritten to be compatible with the oldforum's https, converted database and a completely different domain name.
Re: https on the forum links
That actually makes a lot of sense. I have first hand experience with old hardware that only works with old operating systems being unable to connect to vital internet sites because they lack the necessary ssl machinations.
Thanks for making this all possible.

Re: https on the forum links
I also appreciate this decision. Makes it possible again to access the forum with Opera 12.
I could access with https until the latest cyber attack, after which apparently some changes were made to the server setup and Qpera responded with a "Unable to complete secure transaction" message.
Now with http Opera is usable again. Thanks!
