installing puppylinux 9.5 on a linux lite 5.0 OS on a fujitsu tablet
Hi all,
I hope you are well. I was trying to install puppy Linux 9.5 on my fujitsu tablet. IT HAS LINUXLITE 5.0 ON IT AT THE MOMENT. there is loads of you tube videos showing how you install it starting with a windows OS but none for starting with linuxlite OS. i want to replace my linuxlite with puppy Linux. i have tried 'sudo apt install puppy Linux' etc but no luck. I tried virtual box as a route in with no luck.
last time i asked on a forum they said use yapi installer. i downloaded it but didn't know how to get it running. So does anyone have a command line i could type in that would help me out to install puppy Linux 9.5 OR a method to use or what route to take to carry out this install pls? Thanks. Maulers.

Will this computer boot from a USB drive you could install Fossapup64 9.5 on?
if yes.
do you know how to make it boot from a USB with Fossapup64 9.5 on it?
Here are some programs you can use to install Fossapup on a USB.

Need to make sure you only want to end up with Fossapup as only OS on the computer??????????
The answer determines how you do the Fossapup install.
After you get Fossapup booting from a USB drive.
There are installers in it you can use.
Puppy Linux runs best as a frugal install. Frugal is just the name, it is still the complete OS, just installed in a special way.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

Hi @maulers!
That being said, this is what I would do (remember, this is not a solution, just actually what you should know to do):
- to create a folder in / and copy these files (which are inside Puppy's ISO) into it: vmlinuz, initrd.gz and all .sfs files.
- to add an entry in GRUB2 to boot Puppy (it's not an "easy-peasy" thing. But if you're determined, you could check these pages here, here, here, here and here).
Quite important is DON'T REMOVE Linux Lite! (yet). If you do, grub2 will stop working.
At this (hypothetical) point, you would be in condition to try Puppy in your tablet to make sure it works as you expect.
Sorry I couldn't be more specific
Hope it helps!

What you are trying to do is perfectly feasible BUT it can't be done with a single command or procedure. If you are a beginner, I wouldn't encourage you to try it cause you could end up with a non functioning tablet.maulers wrote: ↑Sat Oct 03, 2020 3:19 pm I was trying to install puppy Linux 9.5 on my fujitsu tablet. Hi everyone
so I finally installed fossa pup 9.5 as follows. I took Linux lite 5.0 off the tablet, installed Windows 10 from a recovery disc, downloaded 'lick' and installed it on the tablet. then put the iso image onto the tablet through lick and it gives you a choice of booting up puppy or Windows. Fossa runs about 1000 times faster than Windows on the tablet. Thanks everyone for helping me
