How to move ROX maximize/minimize/close buttons to left in JWM

Post by bigpup »

I am providing this information posted in another topic by: Burunduk
I have no knowledge, on how it works, or adjustments to how to make it work, in other operating systems.

In Fossapup64 - JWM 2.4.0:

  • Main menu -> Desktop -> JWMdesk -> Profiles tab -> jwmrc-personal Edit current button.

  • Add line <TitleButtonOrder>wxmit</TitleButtonOrder> somewhere not inside other (than <JWM>) tags, for example, right below <JWM>.
Letters describe the layout: w - icon, t - title, imx - buttons. Default: wtimx [github]

  • Save the changes in editor and click the Apply button in JWMdesk.

This worked in Fossapup64 9.5 and may work in other Puppy versions using JWM.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

The TitleButtonOrder option has been added to JWM version 2.4.0 At the moment, there is no information about it in the JWM configuration manual. The release notes point at this issue on [github]

The option should be added to one of the JWM configuration files. In Fossapup64, it can be the /root/.jwm/jwmrc-personal file.

The default setting is <TitleButtonOrder>wtimx</TitleButtonOrder>
where the letters represents: w - window icon, t - window title, i - minimize button, m - maximize button, x - close button.

The letters can be rearranged and (at least in JWM 2.4.0) some of them duplicated or omitted, for example, to put close buttons at both ends: xwtimx

Nice! This works in JWM used in KLV-Boxer which is the JWM-Rox desktop version of KLV.

Someday I would like to adapt the JWM configuration tools that Puppy Linux has to also function and be featured in KLV-Boxer, with this configuration capability added to the JWM customization utilities.
