Virtual Keyboard for Fatdog ?

Post by Neo_78 »

Is there a virtual on-screen keyboard available for disabled users who can use a mouse / trackball but not a mechanical keyboard?

The requirement would be that the virtual keyboard is already available at the graphical login.

Thanks for your feedback!

You could install package florence using Fatdog package manager (gslapt). Start florence manually from the sytem menu: System > System Status and Config > Florence Virtual Keyboard. Florence preferences cab be set from the right-click menu of the florence tray icon. To auto-start Florence add a symbolic link from /etc/xdg/autostart to the florence desktop file; use ROX filer to do so or type directly in a terminal window:
ln -sf -t /etc/xdg/autostart /usr/share/applications/florence.desktop

Thanks @step. It looks like florence keyboard is installed by default.

Is there a way to already call the virtual keyboard on the initial graphical login screen?

I was not able to find an option in the florence configuration menu to set specific key combination to open the virtual keyboard when required. I can only start it from the graphical menu and once opened, there is a little icon in the bottom right navbar to re-open it.
