TVs used as monitors on your PCs

Post by Clarity »

All modern TVs have multiple HDMI ports. They are switchable via the TV's menu selections. Thusly HDMI #1 could go to one PC while HDMI #2 might go to a different PC or unit, etc.

BUT, your TV remote does NOT allow or afford you the ability to hit a button to switch HDMI ports...merely to allow you access to the TV's menu subsystem.

I am curious if anyone knows or has done a key change on their remote to allow direct switch to the next HDMI port. IIRC, all remotes are programmable.

I think the ability to do so is obvious.

Anyone have knowledge/experience of such a key change?

Sure the TV remote does not have ability to change input source?
All the ones I have used do.
Should be a button labeled input, source, etc..........

My latest TV has an input button.
press it and a list of the different connection points is displayed on the TV screen.
You press input button to scroll down the list.
Each time you press it moves down the list one place.
Keep pressing it until the one you want to use is highlighted.
In a few seconds the TV switches to that input.

This TV setup has ability to label each input connection for type device hooked to it.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

This is not what I expected :o

If it's new then there is a button for that.

Is the button not working?
The board on the remote can get greasy/oily over long time of use.
Opening the remote and cleaning the board and the pad may work. But don't use water.

The other option is getting the universal remote controller that supports that brand and model of TV.

Maybe look up the doc for your model of tv online. Nearly all TVs made in the last decade have a button that switches input and selects which one is active between the several ports on the tv. Then get a new remote for it if you have to.
