Thanks to various hard-working people

Post by cobaka »

Good-day @BarryK (we all know who he is!) @bigpup @rockedge and @666philb / @peebee

I'm writing a short note to say 'thank you' for this rather nice thing called Puppy Linux. I first installed Puppy to hardware in 2019; since then I have used it exclusively. Puppy taught me bash; Puppy is teaching me C. Puppy taught me 'dd' - and the second amendment:

A well ordered disk, being the basis of an effective operating system, - (i.e. system of management) has the right
to 'dd'. All citizens may 'dd', but at their own risk.

I installed Puppy on a number of older PCs I dragged in from the cow paddock; Puppy revived them when Windows declared them dead. More than that - Puppy ran faster than Windows; people said, "wow, that's fast" when I demonstrated the Puppy booting.

So - I write this 'epistilos to the Puppians' It's a note of thanks to various people (including various contributors on the forum) but especially to BK and the others named above. I hope you get a warm feeling in your heart when you read this; getting the Puppy to its present state is a mammoth task and greatly appreciated here in Newcastle, Australia.

Newcastle Australia eh!

Not a bad place in the world.
I was there last year to try out the trams.
Anyway welcome to Puppy ...since 1919.

Always nice to hear some cheer in this doom and gloom world.

"wow, that's fast"...what's that and how could it be?
Microslop...worse than ever today....not even Vista is as as bad as Win10.

Regards....Chris.

I would like to say thanks to many more people, that help to make Puppy Linux what it is :!:

to many specific names to ever be able to name everyone.

Users of Puppy Linux
People that test
People that produce software for Puppy Linux
People that help solve problems
People that find bugs and come up with the fix for them
People that develop versions of Puppy Linux
people willing to help anyway they can
Even people that bring up reasons they do not like something about Puppy Linux
A dedicated group of people that are constantly working on improvements to the core operation of Puppy Linux at Woof-CE (how it all works)
People located all over the Earth getting involved in Puppy Linux
Etc........
All of them doing this just because they want to volunteer to help do something for Puppy Linux.

I Thank You All :?:

Even this person:

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Hi,

I've done a fair bit of lurking, and it's time to post! Thanking the people who make this work seems appropriate.

I'm new to Linux in general, and Puppy's been a nice little learning experience. I've been oscillating between; "This is cool, this is actually working pretty good!", and "That's it, I'm hurling this desktop through these, (not Microsoft), Windows!" :D

Considering that I've made a working office desktop from an old Mac desktop, that I was asked to scratch the hard drive in and get rid of by my mother-in-law, I consider this a win!

I'd also like to apologise to @rockedge for the embarrassing email I sent a few days ago. I tried to register in the forum, I punched in "radius" over and over as the answer for the circle question, until I was IP blocked. I could have stopped there, but instead I emailed @rockedge and said something along "cAn i HaZ RaDiUZ?".

Sorry about that, if you need me, I'll be over here eating some humble Pi.

Thanks again and all the best,

Jack.

I am a little slow getting through email this last week since I am in Colorado visiting family and am managing the forum via mobile phone.

Not optimal but works. Glad you're on board 👍

In my opinion the poster above (Mike Walsh) should be included in the list of hard working people.
