Morning, gang.
I browse the MakeUseOf site's Linux section quite a bit, and frequently pick up inspiration for various things. I was having a flick through this morning, and came across this tutorial for Rocket League:-

So far, the process has worked nicely. Sign up for an a/c at the Epic Games store. Follow the link given in the article:-
https://store.epicgames.com/en-US/p/rocket-league
....and follow the instructions to obtain & add the game to your Library. It's completely free of charge....though I'll come to the "caveat" shortly!
----------------------------------------------
Next, we need a way to play the thing. So; head over to GitHub, here:-
https://github.com/Heroic-Games-Launche ... tag/v2.3.9
.....and grab the Heroic AppImage (it's right at the top of the list; you can't miss it). This fires-up a treat in Fossapup64; just needs the
Code: Select all
--no-sandbox
.....'switch' to launch it. Sign-in (may need to refresh the page; I used email with an Epic Games a/c, though there's at least a dozen or so different ways to login), and you're ready for the crunch. Now; here's the "caveat" I mentioned earlier.....it's all free to download & use, BUT the download is nearly 20 GB in size!
So; I'm kinda humm-ing and haa-ing over this. We have a 100 GB monthly data cap, and rarely use much more than 20% of that. But that is one massive download.....and I'm NOT a serious 'gamer', not by a long chalk. Installed, it's almost 23 GB in size.....and I'm not entirely certain I want a chunk of data that big sitting on my drives, despite having plenty of space!
Decisions, decisions.....
Mike.
