System crashes occurring when accessing sites like youtube with Palemoon

Well, if you have a spanking new machine with good specs you will probably never have a problem with the youtube site. However, nobody can deny that the youtube site is heavy and needs rather updated hardware to run properly. You should try that site on a lower spec, old machine and try to use ALL the features (not only playing the video) for an extended period. The situation gets progressively worse the longer you are active on that site (reading hundreds of user comments on videos for example).

I am doing the test on this computer:

Using Fossapup64 9.5 frugal install on internal drive.
5.4.27 Linux kernel that has only been modified to have it configured to enable Chromebook audio hardware.

Laptop Chromebook converted to a normal laptop using Mrchromebox bios firmware.
Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU N2840 @ 2.16GHz
Min/Max Speed: 499/2582 MHz
Current Speed of Core 0:2545 MHz, 1:2497 MHz
Core Count: 2
RAM 2GB
Graphics hardware is the CPU internal graphics using the latest Intel i915 driver.
This laptop has no fans.

In Pale Moon preferences:
Block pop-up windows
Always use private browsing mode
Accept 3rd party cookies and site data from only visited sites
Compatibility: User agent mode: Firefox compatibility

YouTube video quality setting does seem to have an affect on temp.
I use something from 360p to 720p.
Temp difference can be 2 or 3 degrees from using 360p or 720p
Long time watching, it seems to stabilize at a specific temp and maybe go back and forth 1 or 2 degrees lower/higher.

Which would be what?

Again Google owns YouTube and Chromium.
Why would they make these features work best in anything but Chromium based browsers and specifically Chrome(Googles browser)?

I have firefox esr on fossapup but it's a tad heavy for my ageing laptop and vivaldi is my chromium browser of choice purely because it runs a damn sight better.

I have no idea what it is about Vivaldi cause Chromium/Chrome is no faster than Firefox. But I am using EasyOS and Vivaldi deb I downloaded from their site. Vivaldi with usual cookie autodelete, adblocker ultimate, and canvas fingerprint defender. When I run out of fast data tethered to my phone and am throttled, EasyOS+Vivaldi is the bees knees, its the only browser that isn't super painful and I mean the only browser, well in combo with EasyOS, it doesnt help used on MX or other distributions. And yes I know throttled data is supposed to be painful to encourage you to purchase more fast data. Oh you arent going to watch video with throttled data, but it doesnt require repeated timed out tries just to get into webmail site like with Firefox on MX. its funny cause I really dont otherwise like vivaldi interface, its clumsy. But hey cant argue with success. Whatever they did, works.

It's very true. Because Google - the developers & backers behind the Chromium Project - are also the same people that own the YouTube site, it stands to reason that they are going to optimise both the site AND the browser to play nice together.

Some time back, there were angry outbursts from the Mozilla devs, to the effect that Google were deliberately "locking them out" from proper access to/use of YouTube by any means possible......

You draw your own conclusions. Why d'you think Google update the site as often as they do? Because as soon as they find out the Mozilla devs have come up with a workaround for whatever their latest hurdle happens to be, they throw 'em a curveball by immediately placing another one in their way.

I don't particularly like Google. I'm certainly no "fan-boi"! But I've become resigned to the fact that they DO produce the best browser code-base out there, AND provide a full suite of free-to-use tools that enhance productivity no end. I'm pragmatic; if they're there, and they make my life easy - and don't cost me anything - then I'll use 'em.

After having had a Google a/c for over 20 years, they probably have a dossier of info on me as thick as a stack of Bibles by now. TBH, I couldn't care less...

The youtube site gets particularly heavy when you use the comments and chat sections for a prolonged time. For instance - scrolling quickly down the comments section for a video with hundreds of comments. I've found that scrolling slower and even pausing at intervals a bit longer helps a lot. I've also not really noticed a difference in the work load between different browsers (the site remains heavy on resources) although some sections may load quicker with some browsers.
