How To Get NFS Working on Puppy Tahr
Hi guys,
I'm trying to get NFS working on Puppy Tahr.
I have a Microserver running Ubuntu which is setup to export NFS shares over the network.
I know that in Ubuntu, you must install the "nfs-common" package to be able to use NFS.
I've tried to do the same in Puppy, but I still cannot get NFS working.
It keeps saying something about needing "statd" to work properly - which I installed using the Package Manager, and NFS still doesn't work.
Do any of you have any tips for me as to how to get NFS working in Puppy?
Kind Regards,
John

Re: How To Get NFS Working on Puppy Tahr
I have come up with a temporary workaround to using NFS...
I am now using SAMBA to access files on my Microserver.
But, the implementation of SAMBA GUI tools on Puppy Linux is very clumsy.
The tool requires me to remember the SAMBA share's name, and input the IP address and the share's name each time I want to connect via SAMBA.
But, I would still like to be able to use NFS instead of SAMBA, so if any of you have any ideas how I can go about getting NFS working, please feel free to share that information with me.

This is what happens when I try to connect using NFS:
And, this is the command in the NFS_mount_NFS_shares.sh script:root# ./NFS_mount_NFS_shares.sh
mount-FULL: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on 10.1.1.8:/media/johnm/WD_GREEN_2TB,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
(for several filesystems (e.g. nfs, cifs) you might
need a /sbin/mount.<type> helper program)
Any ideas?mount-FULL -t nfs -o v3 10.1.1.8:/media/johnm/WD_GREEN_2TB /media/johnm/MICROSERVER_WD_GREEN_2TB/
Re: How To Get NFS Working on Puppy Tahr
try first doing a "check" on the partition using gparted. needs to be unmounted.
not saying it will help but it may and it wont do any harm

I'm not sure, but wrong fs type and bad superblock seems to be there's a problem on the hard drive...mount-FULL: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on 10.1.1.8:/media/johnm/WD_GREEN_2TB

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

This is not what I expected
