Is this board becoming bored?

I suspect the internet will be much more distributed, where everyone acts as a possible hotspot for everyone else within range of each other,

I recently had to replace my router and now as well as my usual wifi network it also shows up a second one called "Meshxxxx" - i've read a little about mesh networking and i do wonder how much of my own paid bandwidth is actually under my own control and how much is potentially available for remote upgrades, google pseudo-location, or - who knows - maybe dogs randomly walking past...
