Samba Simple Managment wrecks network connectivity

Post by rek769 »

Every time I set up a share using Samba Simple Management at the next boot of the system I have lost internet connectivity. No amount of playing with SNS, Frisbee, nor Network Wizard rectifies the problem. In order to restore connectivity I have to boot into a fresh Fossapup, connect to my network, mount my savefile, and then restore these missing files:
/var/run/wpa_supplicant/wlan0 (the entire directory is missing)
/var/run/dbus/system_bus_socket
/var/run/dbus/pid

This isn't a huge problem for me as I have the files in this share available elsewhere on my network but wanted to post for debugging if this is a reproducible problem.

This is a note to whoever is fixing this more than the OP.
Samba Simple Management has been around a while now.
I don't use it but I remember it from a fair ways back in time and this is the first report like this I have seen for it.
As for Samba its self:
I just tried ScPup and the Samba in it has a bug in smbtree at least. It does a double free and aborts.
I recall other puppies also had issues with the Samba they use
It may be worth looking at what the script does for cases of errors.

This is another SAMBA issues
So why are you posting to this thread?

That's MY POST!

But, you are right, it should be on a separate thread.

I will move it.
