Do I need YASSM and samba?

Post by Mike3 »

What are the YASSM and samba apps used for?

To share files and the like over local networks, ethernet and the like?

I don't want to share any files can I delete these apps and still have a functioning system? Or does one need them to lika attach files to emails and the like?

Best is to remove them from the menus, but leave them installed. They take very little room and unless you are well versed in Linux most likely not worth the effort to remove from the system successfully.

Try to modify the menu and out of sight out of mind.

You can make it that SAMBA does not start up at boot up and does not run.

It's for transferring files back and forth on a local area network and especially Windows systems

If you're running frugally as most of us are, you can't delete apps without remastering Puppy.

You can simply hide them.
