The cryptofree VPN server stopped working on April 01st 2022
The announcement on Twitter by cryptostorm.is reads as follows:-
"As part of their lifecycle management the DC decided to decommission our cryptofree server. We will need to configure another one. Apologies for the inconvenience!"
For some time now, the packages of my unofficial and unconventional "vpn-onoff" simple VPN implementation have been offered with cryptofree as the default configuration, enabling users to connect to a free VPN with no configuration needed at all. The server has been performing well and reliably for some time. Hopefully they will replace it soon, but the configuration files in vpn-onoff may need to be updated. Meanwhile, users should be able to continue to use vpn-onoff by switching the configuration to one of the other servers, but note that passwords need to be updated periodically with those.

Cryptofree VPN server down
Re: Cryptofree VPN server down
Who or what is the DC please Oscar?
The Australian State Governments have all enacted laws to steal your assets on your death. All legal paperwork is binned and all assets seized on one disgruntled child's complaint.Move them well before you die or go into a home.

Re: Cryptofree VPN server down
Yes, I confess I had to think about that for a while, but I presume they mean the Data Centre, the big old place where the servers are housed and operated from. I e-mailed Cryptostorm and they say that they are planning to replace the server, but they are not able to say when as yet.
