This topic assumes you are using one of the recommended distros or remasters.

Not all printers are compatible with Linux. To do a simple printer setup:

  1. attach the printer to the computer and turn it on

  2. click Menu>Setup>CUPS Printer Wizard

  3. click Manage printers and printing task button

  4. click the Printers tab in the dark menu bar

  5. click your printer (the Canon in this example)

  6. click the Maintenance button

  7. click Print Test Page

If the page prints you are connected.

If your printer does not show, you may have to load a driver for it.
