syndownload is one of three utilities that were made for an abandoned desktop project - 'Project Elevate'
http://elevate.sourceforge.net/index.html
Source code: https://sourceforge.net/projects/elevate/files/
syndownload is included in syndesis-0.3.1
https://sourceforge.net/projects/elevat ... .3.1/
I have attached two AppDirs - one with a 64bit binary, and the other is 32bit.
You can actually drag'n'drop to the syndownload binary, and that works on it's own, as long as the URL has nothing after the filename).
However, to deal with some URLs that have /download on then, I have included a wrapper script.
This is a recycled version of fredx181's yt-dnd script.
Click on the directory and an icon appears in the top left corner. Drag and drop a URL on to it, and syndownload will start up, giving you a graphical indication (as well as the numbers - % and file size) of the download. Best used on large files, obviously. When the download is finished, close the window, and then rox will open up to show the file location. Defaults to /root but you can edit the script to change that (or the file manager).
Press 'Esc' over the icon to close it.
As I said, you can just use the binary on its own, which is fine in most cases.
I tried to a screenshot, but it won't show up.
