Xlock lock Screen bug

Post by stemsee »

I set my password for xlock screen but when i enter incorrectly or not at all and just press enter twice it lets me resume my xsession!!!

So, either i configured something wrong or there is a bug somewhere.

Anyone else notice this behaviour?

Do you mean it lets you bypass the password just like that?
I've been using Xlock for ages and never experienced such a behaviour.

Are you using /usr/local/apps/Xlock or /usr/bin/xlock directly?
And can you also reproduce the issue with a different password or without a savefile?

I know that the password can be max. 8 characters, because Xlock ignores anything longer, so it's possible to unlock X using e.g. 12345678, even if you set it to something like 1234567890abcd.

With a fresh boot, no savefile, no remaster, there is no problem. But i noted that entering xlock specific password or root password grants access to session.

I obviously did something to cause the malfunction!

Ok, please let us know if you figure out which specific change causes it.
