I don't believe this is true for every configuration.

If one were to attempt to understand copying causes, PUPMODE I suspect would be a top observation criterium with partition availability.

More meta: would this be of broad concern? / Is sfs_load an important utility for Puppy users?

The reason is, if you posted a hack necessary in most cases, the need will persist in every pup until there's a different way.
