Now that he's mentioned it, I kind of agree with dogFellow. The image is distinctive, but it looks kind of sad and dependent. The transparent original smokey1 suggests is cheerful and confident. [Maybe the times we live in is getting to us. Artists often recognize reality long before analysts find the words for it.] Perhaps there's some misguided concern with copyright issue if the original was used. I'll gladly donate my avatar  which evidences qualities characteristic of our community: a quixotic demeanor and spirit of rebellion against conformity.

TO REMIND EVERYONE.....I set this forum up WHILE the John Murga forum was in full operation. To differentiate I used a logo less well known. At that time I was given some bad press and grief. I also heard from the cheap seats that I couldn't use the "real" logo. I can change it any time I want to.

Bottom line is I'll change it when I feel like it...maybe today..maybe tomorrow...maybe never.

If any one doesn't like my decision you can write me..in triplicate with signatures notarized. Letters will be accepted in English or German only. Good luck finding my home address...it's in Connecticut.

No need to send your letters. I've changed it since I was looking at the CSS as it was.

Well, for what it's worth, I was pleased with the first election: New forum, new logo. This old version of Puppy image simply doesn't cut it anymore. If anything is the image of Slacko

Tradition and being stuck in the past are not the same thing but

Just my two cents.

@01101001b

I like the new logo as well, since I know a some pup's with few teeth and the tongue hanging out, mostly always. But if the old logo feels more positive lets give it a try. I can always change it.

I didn't mind the ying-yang logo.

What about using it as the favicon for the site? It is still a puppy logo made by one of our own. Who was it by the way?

Anyway, here it is at a decent favicon size. (32x32)

No real reason to have an easily well known identifiable logo.  :o :thumbup2:

Sounds a bit like: why not having a dumb phone like almost anyone else has one - except me.
I won't jump from a bridge into the river. Even not, if anyone else is jumping! ;)
The former logo on the forum was nicer to me. However, I'm not the forum owner and so, I'm not the person to decide. It's a waste of time to argue any further on this issue... ;)

@rockedge it's your forum, choose whatever you like.
I posted the original transparent logo just in case you didn't have a copy.

If bandwidth ever gets to be an issue you could use a text logo instead:

Code: Select all

 /~~\--~/~~~)
( __ ) \__)
( _ \
( (() ° )
(  ∇ , /
 \ \_/ /
   \ ____ -

I think the browser favicon should match the header icon .....

I thought it was identifiable.
That was the point!
The official one, that was decided on back in 2008, is well known and recognized  :thumbup2:

But, I guess we are trying to be like Windows and have a different official one, every time a new version of Puppy comes out  :!: :!:
If you want a specific logo for each version of Puppy Linux.
That should be possible and would probably be good to see.

But Puppy Linux should have one and only one official logo for Puppy Linux.

If this is going to be the main official forum for Puppy Linux.
It should use the official Puppy logo!!

That official Puppy logo was not just decided by one person.
There were a lot of ideas for a logo and that was the one most people liked.

Main thing for me is that the favicon shows the tab is rockedge's Puppy forum (and not puppylinux.com which may be open in a different tab). If wanting to use same official icon as favicon I suppose you could embed it in a 'rock'...

I like the 2008 Puppy Logo. Its used in Slacko5.7 for 6 1/2 years, and that says volumes about Puppy Linux. :thumbup2: I am a bit biased... using Slacko5.7 daily 8-)
