stuck on "recognising media devices...optical input" live usb

Post by Jeroenes »

Hi,

My laptop won't let me run easyos from a live usb, it never goes past the "recognising media devices...optical input" line.
The same usb works perfectly on an older ASUS laptop and also on my friends laptop.
Booting up from the commandline without X results in the same error "recognising... -input."
the "fix broken video" option gives the following error: "Screen(s) found, but none have usable configuration"

If anyone can send me in the right direction, i appreciate all help.

secure boot is off
version: easy-3.1-amd64
graphics: AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 (integrated)
1920*1080

Edit: i have now tried FossaPup64 9.5 on usb, works great and this leaves me even more confused.

Does the laptop boot with 3.0 or earlier? Barry just did some recent work on video with the more recent releases.

I attempted 2.9 and 3.0 after your suggestion, they both get stuck on the same line as before. With 2.9 i also tried the "start from commandline, no X" option but without succes.

Does the loading get stuck with no additional options? can you type "exit" in the shell to attempt to proceed? maybe multiple times if the output message changes?

also, some specs on the laptop might help others volunteer their experiences if they have tried similar

I am unable to type any commands or anything at all, also when reaching the last line "recogn...-input" my mute and disable microphone function keys seem to turn on :?: (they have a light underneath).

Does the loading get stuck with no additional options?

I think i have tried all boot options, the "fix broken video" does get past the "recogn...-input" line but later tells me i have no usable configuration for my screen. Then i thought that start with no X would work but it freezes at the same line.

More specs are:
Lenovo thinkpad T14 gen 2
Processor: AMD Ryzen™ 5 PRO 5650U
Display: 14 inch IPS FHD (1920*1080)
Memory: 8GB DDR4 3200 Mhz Memory
Storage: 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD
Graphics: AMD Radeon RX Vega 7 (integrated)

@Jeroenes

but it freezes at the same line.

if the line comes after "loading kernel modules" , then I would suspect your more recent hardware is not yet supported.

That sounds resonable, thank you

Note that Fossapup has a 5.4.x kernel, EasyOS has 5.10.x

perhaps not the kernel per se, but a driver it is looking for? Not sure how to proceed troubleshooting......
