Forum login behavior changed?

Post by Marv »

Was there a change made to login roughly mid-day 8 November 2021? Prior to then I could login sucessfully and stay logged in under any of the 64b SlimJets up through v 32.0.1.0 as well as using un-googled chromiums up to v94. Suddenly I cannot login with the SlimJets in normal mode but the ungoogled browser AND SlimJet in incognito mode continue to work. Replicated on 2 computers running LxPupSc64 21.04 +4 and fossapup64 9.5. I tried older Slimjets and rebuilt the profile to no avail. In Slimjet, checking the Browser ID in normal and incognito mode gives the same Chrome ID. No changes made to OS etc. over this period. Not a real game-changer but a puzzle.

Reason: Original title: Login Behavior

My pups: LxPupSc64 and Voidpup64 with LXDE ydrv and synaptics touchpad drivers, both using small savefiles for customizations. Ydrv based NoblePup64 and Fossapup64-small (both LXDE/PCManFM with no savefiles). No fdrvs throughout. :thumbup2:

Yes, there were some adjustments to the cookie settings while diagnosing a search index problem during that time. They are tuned again so login behavior should return to normal.

Login with light works...

I am also having problems logging in today on my phone. Also had the problem yesterday. Using both Dolphin and Safari. When I noticed this yesterday I tried on my main machine.
I only used Palemoon. This worked so I assumed it was probably an issue with the phone so didn't try any other browser. I have just logged in on my phone and am posting from it. I'll see how it goes.

Regards,

Ken.

I'll add my two-penn'orth.

Couldn't log-in with Chrome yesterday but Firefox, Slimjet and most of the other 'clones' all appear to be OK. It's handy having all these 'spare' browsers hanging around; packaging so many DOES have its advantages!

(Everything's on the 'slow' side this morning, but British Telecom are in the middle of upgrading the whole of King's Lynn to the national fibre network, so.....it's been like this for a couple of weeks now. AND they're back outside again this morning, so perhaps they've run into 'issues'.....)

(*sigh...*)

Ne'm mind. These things are sent to try us..!

Mike. ;)

Still the same behavior as in my first post above on 9 November 8AM central US time. I'm logged in and posting in SlimJet 32.0.1.0 incognito mode. In normal mode the username and password are rejected if incorrect and accepted if correct but no login occurs. Currently in LxPupSc 21.04 +4.

:thumbup2:

@rockedge has advised - clear browser cache and cookies - this has worked for me.....

Anuther thing though...... I am now getting:

=?US-ASCII?Q?

prepended to the subject of each email received.......

and ?= appended

e.g.

=?US-ASCII?Q?Reply in "Forum login behavior changed?"?=

I am purging the forum's sessions cache and main cache. I did this on the old forum and it seems to work better. Any time the slightest changes are made to the cookies and effect the sessions tokens this login loop occurs.

All this is from trying to diagnose why the search index is periodically disappearing from the oldforum knocking out the search functions.

Please report !

Well I hope I'm not temping fate here but login has worked consistently today on my phone. Have not had any of the problems I reported in my earlier post.

Ken.

Guys,

It was a horrible ordeal trying to get back here. The only good thing was no Capcha. I never had such a difficult time signing up and getting validated.

I guess it didn't help that the verification emails were hitting my spam.

Anyway, it feels kind of good to be back...
