Useful understanding of Frequent Browsing Error codes

Post by Clarity »

This article offers explanation of the combination of error codes we have seen in our browser use.

It is self-explanatory. If moderators feel it would more helpful in another forum thread, feel free to move it.

@Clarity
Yet another naked link to some site somewhere...what about a brief summary? You continue to ignore
pleas to include SOMETHING, ANYTHING, in your posts to give an indication what it is about. I posted
here viewtopic.php?t=4223 in response to a previous link post you made.
You apparently have little regard for any advice, even when others have tried to explain it to you, as
here viewtopic.php?t=4230

It could be something as simply copy and paste the opening paragraph of an article, especially those at
ZDNet, CNET, TechRepublic...many of the authors there have tendencies to summarize at the start of
their article. Most forums I frequent, which includes those sites, though CNET forums are no longer in
use, consider the posting of naked links as SPAM, and are dealt with accordingly.

I had assumed that "This article offers explanation of the combination of error codes we have seen in our browser use." would be apparent to everyone. But, it appears that some want much more.

To help, here is a statement from the article

What are the most common web errors to watch out for?
Some website error codes are your fault ...

Hope this gives a helpful insight without plagarizing the article. (I have a strong dislike for those who plagarize others)

I found the article to be a good read with a logical layout. Beware, much of this is already known by seasoned browser users: Couple may not.

Hello @Wiz57

I see your and others recommendations. I feel that some/most of the titles I present are helpful.

I know you are trying to be helpful so I ask:

Code: Select all

As you have noted CNET is a trusted site and as you have already seen, I'm sure, that the link is to CNET, would you show me how you would have posted the opening for that article for member review, please?

Just a sample from you, please, not other members. I just want to get some example to compare how you feel you want to see a post of this sort. Trust that your example will be helpful. Please use the article shown in the OP.

Help. And, THANKS in advance.

@Clarity

Well, you asked for it, hehe...so here goes...If it were me I would probably do something like this...

Ever wonder what all those error codes mean you see when browsing the net? CNET's Dashia Starr has
posted a helpful article to give you an introduction to the causes and fixes for some of the more
common error codes displayed in our browsers. Click here for the article...https://www.cnet.com/tech/404-and-503-e ... tus-codes/

How does that sound to you? I didn't go into detail and repeat the author's post, just a brief "What is it".
That way, it gives a reader that YOU (or myself in this case) actually READ the article, rather than just
pull the link off of some site. That personal touch if you will.
By the way...what was that post that would interest musicians? I didn't click on it...but the more musical
among us might be interested to see what it is...is it software for writing music, MIDI, mixer??? Can't
tell just from your post...
Anyway, I'll see ya on the forum...or forums if you frequent ZDNet or TechRepublic ( I use a little different
nickname there though)

Thank you very much.

That is clear and useful. Will try as best I can to mimic your suggestion going forward.

That was a very stand-up and helpful visualization of what you feel is best in presentation in the community!

Thanks @Wiz57 for 'helping' with that offer. And, I can see the difference by comparison. Thanks!
