The BEST person on the forum to ask this, I feel, is @peebee. He has consistently demonstrated his ability in understanding the successful approaches for adding various alternative desktops to a PUP.

I agree, heavy. Even the listing page in this link takes a while to form :)

KDE can be installed via PPM. Although we will probably have to add some scripts in this case. But I don't see the point for Puppy. If you want KDE, then there are ready-made solutions, sharpened for this case.
P.S. Fossapup has such an option in PPM:
