hello all.
the dvd in the slot will not boot now, quitting with
a 'kernel panic is over' text. there are places where
i can use the keyboard to move through a list of
fossapup boot choices, then 'enter' to choose. i chose
'run in ram' thinking i might avoid loading the save file.
this live dvd of fossapup64 was an iffy boot
which got stuck once before, after a couple of successful
boots. i switched back to the apple keyboard which came
with this imac7 [mid 2007], pressed the eject key as soon as i
turned on the imac. slowly the dvd emerged.
not this time.
i chose to have savefile written to dvd instead
of harddrive partition on last shutdown. that did
not go as smoothly as i remembered. i ran off a
live dvd of precisepup on this machine for months,
saving back to dvd without issues.
this dvd presence in bowels of imac seems to prevent the
frugally installed precisepup571 to boot. i'm stumped
but will keep trying what i remember of boot commands
on the apple keyboard. maybe those key combos no longer
work now that puppylinux is the only os installed.
any info welcome. cheers, mm
