Weird Executable Issue in LXDE [SOLVED]

Post by steve_s »

Good morning!
I have this weird deal where all executables on my desktop ask me whether or not to execute them.
Why?
I feel it is permissions thing. I am running from usb, the puppy files are on fat32 while the save folder is on a different partition, ext3, also on flash drive.
Any ideas?
I also saw this on another configuration using Fossa (currently LxDepup). It also asked every time I wanted to run something.

How would y'all fix this?

It appears your distro is using LXDE as a desktop environment. This behavior is controlled by the desktop.
Here is their help forum: https://forum.lxde.org/index.php

Most puppies use JWM desktop, but someone else around here may have the hack for LXDE.

Well, as I mentioned, Fossa using JWM did the same. But I will check with the LXDE crew also as more suggestions present themselves.

Thanks!

But I did just use the desktop switching tool to go to JWM, and I didn't notice the same issue. Ok, will check with the LXDE group. Thanks!

As is regularly the case, I was doing it wrong. LXDE says right click the menu entry and select Add to Desktop for each item. That seems to take care of the executable issue with LXDE. There is more to investigate, but that mostly fixes it.

Thanks!

It's a pcmanfm "thing" (assuming that you run an executable from pcmanfm and on LXDE pcmanfm is controlling the Desktop).
To disable appearing that dialog, go in pcmanfm preferences and tick checkbox, like this:
