Cannot Login at One Website (Cancelled Account)

Post by Mercedes350se »

I have been using Grays for a number of years. Just recently the IT wallahs have decided to fix something that was not broken and now i cannot login.

The URL is:

https://www.grays.com/

When I try to login I get this error page:

https://res3.grays.com/404.html

I am using a frugal install of Bionic 32 bit with seamonkey 2.53.6

I have tried spoofing the useragent (UA) with a Firefox UA and a Chrome UA - both give the same error page.

I have no trouble with a login on my tablet using Firefox or Brave so it seems? to be a seamonkey issue.

PS. I have contacted their Help service - the best they can offer is to try Chrome browser - the reason for my spoof attempt mentioned above.

Any thoughts please?

Using seamonkey 2.53.2 in dpupbuster64 I created a new account without issue and showed as logged in. I then logged out and attempted to login again and was presented the the same error page as you. I switched to vivaldi and loggged in successfully. So as you suspect it appears to be an issue of using seamonkey or maybe other mozilla based browsers also.

Edit: Tried to login on Busterpup 8.0 32-bit using Palemoon 28.16, I get same error page.

Edit 2: Logged in OK in slacko64 using firefox 90.0

@TerryH, Way above the call of duty. Interesting it is not only seamonkey.

@norgo, Works a treat. Please explain why it does ...

I think the reason is the character encoding.
This website is a coding nightmare.
Main page starts with utf-8 encoding thats okay,
in the middle of this site it turns to windows-1252
and at the signin site is no character encoding declared.

My grin was short lived. Login OK but unable to bid. Maybe a good thing ...

@Mercedes350se
Launch seamonkey and login to grays.com web-site.
Navigate to the bidding page (it's important to be at the desired page!) and choose in your browser menu bar

Tools -> Cookie Manager
select
Allow Session Cookies from This Website
confirm the appearing message box

after that choose in your browser menu bar
Edit -> Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Cookies
select
Allow all cookies
Accept for current session only

close the browser menu

click the reload button of your browser to reload the site

Unfortunately the Autobid still does not work.

Thank you for your help but at this stage I am not going to try any further.

Grays can only suggest Google Chrome browser which is never going to happen.
