I've tried everything I can find with no luck. I'm now running bionicpup32-8.27 after my upgrade to Frugal Puppy. Last thing is to add my old HP Laserjet P1006 printer. However, cups doesn't list it and nothing close worked. What am I missing?
How to install HP Laserjet P1006 on Bionic Pup? (Solved)

Re: Install HP Laserjet P1006 on Bionic Pup
You need to download and install the hplip driver.
Reboot updating the save.
Now run Cups.
Try using the Puppy Package Manager(PPM)
Search for hplip
If it finds it.
Download and install.
If not in PPM
Here is the driver and info about it:

Carefully read the information and follow it.
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

This is not what I expected
Re: Install HP Laserjet P1006 on Bionic Pup
For years, the old forum had a knowledge base called How to Install your Printer in Puppy. Its recommendation for the old Laserjet 1000 series was a package called foo2xxx.
That knowledge base has since moved to the DebianDog project here, post #74.
However, a community member recently posted a link to the Puppy version of foo2xxx at archive.org. Trying to install this printer via full hplip is a huge waste of time.

Re: Install HP Laserjet P1006 on Bionic Pup (SOLVED)
Thanks everybody. I finally got it working! The Hplip PPM's didn't install - something about Python not right version. So I pursued rcrsn51 line:
First: I searched for foo2xxx here. Got this link:
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=2839&p=26249&hilit=foo2xxx#p26249
Second: Down loaded the pet files in link and installed them
Third: Rebooted
EDIT: Installed printer with cups installer. Cups found foo2xqx file
Fourth: Kept working with printer defaults in cups, rebooted until it worked!
Thanks again,
George
