Amazon Devices Security Alert

Post by perdido »

You should read what amazon is in the process of doing.
You will be sharing your internet connection with whoever unless you opt out.

You are opted in by default.
Have fun!

Thanks for the info ...

[...] to make Sidewalk an opt-out service rather than an opt-in one is also telling.

Yes, it is!

[...] "Amazon does not charge any fees to join Sidewalk [...]." That makes me crying tears of joy ...

Heh. I wonder if the mikeb on page 2 of the 'Comments' section is OUR 'mikeb'..?

Got no interest in any of their gadgets, although we DO have an old FireStick. Does that count?

EDIT:- Hm. Apparently NOT.....for now:-

So, when is Amazon going to pay for my internet service?
Can I send them the bill to pay?

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Somewhere I saw something like that in my childhood... Oh yes, this is socialism :) ! My grandfather died and before he died he said that no one would ever build communism. But maybe Amazon can do it  ?

Fossapup OS, Ryzen 5 3600 CPU, 64 GB RAM, GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4 GB, Sound Blaster Audigy Rx with amplifier + Yamaha speakers for loud sound, USB Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro V3 + headphones for quiet sound.

I saw numerous replies to the Article. Some have doubts this is legal, as many ISP's do not allow tethering. Also this looks to be a bandwidth restriction for those being tapped... one has no apparant choice except to OPT OUT.

Others wonder if a future "update" will change the settings a-la M$ Windows. This is easily a nightmare regardless.

Money talks... no, it shouts, so that it doesn't have to hear common sense.
