I like to get kdeconnect working from my fossapup64 (i3) and my android phone (pixel 4), to quickly transfer files from phone to desktop PC via "share" icon. I downloaded kdeconnect but am not able to pair with my phone (also has kdeconnect). Has anyone able to use kdeconnect or gsconnect from puppy?

Can't help with that as I have no experience with kdeconnect.
However I can suggest you try " gmtp" just on your computer "i3? " I firstly made a desktop icon for it to start it but to kick off just enter gmtp in a terminal . Plug in your android phone on a usb cable and hit connect.
If you give that a try and decide you like it , post back here and I will help you set it up to connect on plugging in your phone . gmtp is not needed on your phone if you connect via usb

Do you know why it would require access to GPS position?
This app has access to:
Location
precise location (GPS and network-based)

My point is none of the apps that I have looked at need the location for any reason I can see . Is it the Chinese again getting ready?
Or maybe its Google being the bloody pests they have continually become.

Gychang, are you still interested or have you "petered-out" and left the building?
How can I quickly, sans hardware, transfer files from my Android phone to my Fossa desktop PC?

To make life easy, grab yourself a copy of FileZilla.
EasyShare+FileZilla is a no brainer.
If you're unsure as how to handle this couple -- ASK.
Remember, I know nothing of what you know, or don't.

Hmm, you can also connect via HTTP with your browser.

tried it today, I was able to connect to my pixel 4 and PC, but the connection is not reliable. Although we are on same network easyshare wants bluetooth on both phone/PC. I have my Fossapup64 and have disabled bluetooth and this maybe the reason. As others have mentioned it also wants GPS on. I have decided to just stick with gftp.
