My take on josejp2424's DPupBuster64:-
Home-spun "docks", 'infocentre', etc.....all present & correct.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Crikey Mike - that's a hell of a six pack you have there !!
Until now i had you pictured as a blubbery 20 stone deskbound keyboard jockey. I was so wrong!

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Hah!
"Deskbound keyboard jockey", possibly. "20-stone stone & blubbery".....not so much. (Though I wish I did have a six-pack like that! )
At almost 60 I weigh around 12 stone. But that's half-a-stone heavier than I've ever been before, and unfortunately I've reached the stage of life now where it no longer drops away during the summer the way it used to..... Grrr!!
(*sigh*)
Ne'm mind. At least the old grey matter's still pretty sharp...

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Indeed! And I recognise those desktop drive icons, an' all.....strangely, they look kinda familiar, somehow.....

A very "traditional" Puppy. And that IS a beautiful background.
Nice!

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Morning, Ian.
It's an easy enough effect to achieve, TBH. As long as you know where they are, you can hide every single icon you have.....by changing the existing images for an invisible one. And you've always got the right-click desktop menu, in any case.
Reduce everything down to four icons, say, put one in each corner, and make 'em invisible. Use the supplied PNG image below (it's just a PNG transparent background layer, without anything else.....but because transparency is part of the PNG image specs, it's seen & recognised as a proper image).
Don't worry about the image dimensions; ROX will auto-resize it down to 48x48 for the desktop.

@ Nic:-
I think that's the first one I've seen from you, mate. I like it.

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
It's very nice indeed. Using it with my workhorse, customised, Precise Puppy.

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Yes! I knew it...
I had a feeling it was either Precise or Racy as soon as I looked at it. They're the only two Pups I know of that used that red-on-grey combo for xload in the notification area...

I thought it might be Fenway Park (the only ballpark i have been to in the States) - but no it's not. Is this your local??
Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Are you talking about the little red X? That's just a button for a little script of mine.

Re: Show Us Your Desktop
Mornin', Nic.
Nah, I'm talking about "xload", the little process-thread indicator thingy over near the clock. The one that some noobs think is a CPU meter.....
http://oldforum.puppylinux.com/puppy/vi ... e2e1a77a43
I've made mine somewhat wider (!).....green on black background.....and mine updates every 2 seconds. Standard settings are something like every 20 seconds.
It is a good way of getting an indication as to whether processes are starting to run riot, and the way mine is set up lets me see that rather more quickly.
Mike.

Oh, just a simple edit in /root/jwmrc-tray.....down near the bottom. For instance:-
Original from DPup Stretch 7.5:-
Code: Select all
<Swallow name="xload" width="40">xload -nolabel -bg "#3f6fa9"</Swallow>
Code: Select all
<Swallow name="xload" width="160">xload -nolabel -bg "#050303" -fg "#07F608" -hl "#050303" -update 1 &</Swallow>
