VMWare & VirtualBox Won't Start on FossaPup64 with Newer Kernel

Hello,

I replaced FossaPup64's stock kernel with peabee's newest 5.11 kernel.
Then, I downloaded and managed to install VMWare's and VirtualBox' latest versions.

When I tried to start VMWare, it displayed "VMWare Kernel Module Updater) dialog box with "Location", "Browse", "Refresh", "Cancel", and "Install" options. I downloaded both GCC 10.3 tar.gz and tar.xz files as VMWare requested and stored both in Downloads folder but VMWare simply won't find it.

VirtualBox also refused to start after it was freshly installed (there was an error message in the Terminal window right after the "rcvboxdrv" command was entered.

Any enlightenment would be very much appreciated.

In the case of Virtualbox, I believe it is due to the incompatibility between kernel 5.11 and Virtualbox. I saw some information about it. For information, what motivated your choice for the 5.11 kernel?

Virtualbox 6.1.20 can support 5.11 and 5.12 kernels.

I did download the latest versions of VMWare (1611) and VirtualBox (6120) this morning.

Hi. You have changed the kernel, which means you need to recompile the driver modules for it.

Here is instruction for kernel 5.4.53:
Go to the /usr/share/virtualbox/src/vboxhost/ folder, open terminal in it by pressing the "~" key on the keyboard. Run the "make" command. But before all this, you need to connect two SFS packages - devx_fossapup64_9.5.sfs and kernel_sources-5.4.53-fossapup64.sfs. This can be done through Quickpet.

But you have a 5.11 kernel and need the appropriate kernel sources.
