Featherweb - how to make a website

Post by Bert »

Hi All,

Some of you may remember me...
I am no longer using Puppy, but keep reading Barry's blog and the forums.Today I would like to do some gentle spamming... :)

I just finished a website about websites... how to write them, free of "systems", cms's, libraries, php, static generators, etc..
This could probably be interesting to some of you: Featherweb

(Moderators, feel free to remove this post if not appropriate.)

Bye for now!

Hi Bert. Long time no hear/see.

Like it. After all if a web site says 'accept cookies' its more often a.k.a. Google owned/tracking-you.

Shame that more sites that genuinely want to attract visitors to their site/products don't take heed.

Thanks Rufwoof,
Nice to hear from you again too.

I agree. People have no idea how each and every move they make on the internet, is registered.

It is understandable that commercial sites want to attract as many visitors as possible. But why has everything in this world have to be about making money? My modest Featherweb attempt wants to liberate users from all forms of commerce, and re-establish the internet as a great global communication tool. Most systems for writing web content are commercial and marketed as indispensable, user-friendly solutions.

I would love to show they are wrong and propose freedom instead. And I am not the only one...see the links section in Featherweb

Thanks for your reply!

Someone changed this topic's title from "Featherweb" to "Featherweb - making websites clean again"

Whoever did this, it wasn't me!
[Edit:] I have restored the original title.

Hi all,

After a long hibernation I woke up, removed the Featherweb site, totally rewrote it and uploaded it to a new and friendly host:
featherweb.neocities.org. Also adjusted the link in the first post.

Bert, I don't know who changed your title the first time. I just did again, because the one word, "Featherweb" is not enough info. You can change it if you want, but be kind to the people who don't have time to click on every thread to see what it's about.

Hi Bert!
I love minimalist websites!

And I sympathize with your abandoning the Pi 400 -- fully understand!

Hi Flash,

Yes I can see now only Featherweb is too weak as a title. Your addition is perfect! The first time the title was changed, I didn"t like it..."making websites clean again"

Thanks for your help!

Thanks you Barry!
I think all those years in Puppy Linux made me demanding... if not snappy, I leave. ( in this case the Rpi 400 will leave!)

HI snoring_cat,
I just discovered your reply now, Feb.1st! I arranged email notifications for this thread, but did not receive anything. Probably made a mistake somewhere, wouldn't be the first time... I have no talent for administrative tasks...

Thank you for adding my website to your Dillo project!
All the best for you and your projects and please keep us posted.
