update rgb.txt to version 1.0.6 should be reversed

Post by MochiMoppel »

@01micko The recent update rgb.txt to version 1.0.6 causes problems. IIRC it was me who proposed to update rgb.txt to a newer version where Xorg contains additional color definitions. A bad idea.

1) Users might be inclined to use "new" colors like crimson, not being aware that those colors don't exist on older systems and therefore cause errors. The "old" colors are always safe.

2) Even in new distros like Fossapup64, where Xorg contains the new colors, the updated rgb.txt may also lead to errors. Problem is that colors like X11Maroon or WebPurple are not recognized by the GTK color picker (= not converted to hex when entered into the entry field) or Pango. Using these colors in Pango will cause Pango to stop parsing.
