Re: Anyone get Google Earth to work in Puppy 9.5?
This is the 7.3.3.7786 DEB which I just did a couple of tweaks to for icons and menu entries and to make it launch with the command google-earth or googleearth before repacking as .SFS and .PET
It would not work with the intel driver on my hardware, so I tried switching to the modesetting graphics driver and that works.

Same version of Earth as I'm running. I just d/l'ed & installed the .deb package, late last year sometime. Runs OOTB for me in Fossapup64. Whether the fact that I now run an Nvidia card makes a scrap of difference, I don't know. Some say it does....
For Pups where Google Earth can't ( or won't ) run, for whatever reasons, I find Google Maps actually makes a pretty good replacement when run as a "web-app", so that it can fire up in its own desktop window. The "Satellite" view gives exactly what Google Earth gives you.

@OscarTalks :-
Mm. Seems to be an issue with the Intel graphics, I don't know why.
The previous version I was using wouldn't play nice with the built-in, on-die UHD610 I've got with this new Pentium Gold quad-core. I decided to treat myself to an Nvidia card to go with the new 'puter around May last year.
After installing it, and using get-nvidia-1.5.1 to compile/install the Nvidia .run file for my card, upon firing-up Google Earth was behaving as though nothing out-of-the-way had happened.....and was running without any 'issues' at all.
Peculiar, to say the least. Especially given that the Intel drivers are usually pretty much foolproof.....
(*shrug*)

Re: Anyone get Google Earth to work in Puppy 9.5?-solved
@mikewalsh I have tried several versions with no joy. My issue appears to be with layers not showing up correctly as I have a very small space in the upper left that shows a few stars. I can move it however the rest of the screen is blue. I read that you need the proprietary ATI/Radeon drivers installed for any version past 7.1.8
When I use quickpet it opens a browser and takes me to the G-E download page. Downloaded the 7.3.3 deb and it does the same thing, just a little rectangle in the upper left.
Uninstalled and removed config files etc. Tried several pets, amd64 and they were all the same. No biggie though it can be nice for certain things. I have several map sites I use when I really need them.
I did find the online version runs well in FF browser, Which I keep for just such occasions.
Puppy Linux. It just works!

@peppyy :-
As stated, I find Google Maps does just as good a job....in some respects better. And since it's an online thing, I can turn it into a "web-app", so I can click on a Menu entry for it & it will open up in a window by itself, just like a desktop 'client'.
