I think it should be Puppys referring to the operating system. Puppies are animals. BTW - It seems as if I'm excluded from posting a poll on here.

Re: Puppys or Puppies
Since it was named after Barry Kaulers Puppy and Barry Kauler also prefers Puppies, it should be Puppies. It's also grammatically correct.

Re: Puppys or Puppies
Years ago, I thought Puppys was the right way to go, but it just seemed odd so now I use Puppies. The capitalization differentiates it from actual living puppies.

Re: Puppys or Puppies
How about Puppy(s)?
The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected
Re: Puppys or Puppies
That would probably be the best way to distinguish between the animal and the operational system in a sentence. I like it and will use it that way in future. Unfortunately Puppys do not conform to standard grammatical rules because the second last letter of the singular form is a consonant and not a vowel. I just wonder if there may not be exceptions to this general rule?

Re: Puppys or Puppies
I recall Puppee being used for Puppies made for the Eee-PC's.
I also recall this question was already a discussion some time ago at the murga-forum and Barry Kauler stated Puppy/Puppies (or maybe puppy/puppies - can't recall if he capitalized it). So far, already a dead discussion with no useful sense at all.
However, no matter what anyone else is using, I'm staying with Puppy/Puppies and I'm not going to change this - even not if I would be banned from the forum for using Puppies.

All non-conformists will be bammed. You know this. Please conform.
Re: Puppys or Puppies
Actually, I'm going to stick with Puppys. Cathys and Kellys (plural for the name) is acceptable for instance and widely used. There are many Cathys in this world. I have never seen Cathies being used in this scenario, it just looks peculiar.

Re: Puppys or Puppies
Really, the use of Puppy is a made up name for the operating system.
You could probably spell it any way you wanted.
However:

Legal notice:
I, Barry Kauler, established the 'Puppy Linux Project' in January 2003, first website and product release 18-June-2003, and I have trademark claim to the name and typed drawing of 'Puppy Linux', 'PuppyOS' and 'Puppy' as it relates to "computer operating system software to facilitate computer use and operation", under Federal and International Common Law and Trademark Laws as appropriate.

Is this trademark registered? If not, it would be hard to enforce. Having said that though, (morally and as a matter of respect and gratitude to the creator), the right thing would be to only use those terms Barry wish to make claim to (unless he advises/consents to otherwise). Singular and plural forms to be the same. So - I am running 3 Puppy/Puppy Linux/PuppyOS (operating systems) on my computer. I can live with that.

Re: Puppys or Puppies
It'd debatable.
There's an issue in English with formal nouns (e.g., names) being pluralized with -s alone. It's also the possessive form sometimes used sans apostrophe.
Because you like it is probably a justification if it's yours to name, or others don't question you.
I run three too, but on my 64 system one of them is a decadent MATE distro.
