EasyOS for the Raspberry Pi4

Post by BarryK »

Yes! EasyOS now runs on the Pi4, 64-bit, 5.10.4 kernel.

See blog announcement:

https://bkhome.org/news/202101/easyos-d ... y-pi4.html

It can even run RasPup in a container.

Anyone willing to test it?

I have installed it, there is a problem, the wifi cannot be connected, there is the word $ in the password, I don't know if it is the reason.
In addition, the installation deb cannot be used. After the installation, the command is in /usr/bin, but it cannot be run.
Create a new directory under /home/, can not enter, use ls command and do not display the new directory, you can see it in rox

What is the "installation deb"?

EasyOS does not have any deb packages.

OK, have fired up my Pi4.
Opened ROX-Filer at /home, created a new folder "puppy".
Opened a terminal:

# cd /home
# cd puppy
#

no problem, works fine.

As for wifi, it works fine for me. I have the "revision 1.4" board, perhaps that makes a difference.
Regarding a "$" in the password, you would need to find out if NetworkManager will accept that character -- NetworkManager is used in many Linux distros and there is heaps of discussion about it.

Raspberry Pi 400
Easy Dunfell64 2.6 (this is as reported in Pup-Sysinfo)
Used Easydd to install on a SD card. (128GB size)
Installed OK.

Did leave most of SD card unallocated. I Made a big ext4 partition with the unallocated space.
Correction:
After doing another boot.
I noticed warning that it could not resize the working partition.
Deleted the 3rd partition. I had made, making it unallocated space.
On next boot.
This unallocated space was used to resize the 2nd partition.
Now it has 2 partitions and all space used on drive.
Seems this time, the OS was smarter, than I thought I was. :thumbup2:

BIG PROBLEM.
Seamonkey keeps freezing up.

This is suppose to be a 64bit OS as I understand.
But everything that provides info about my CPU, says it is a 32bit only CPU.
It is a v7 of the arm CPU.

Example from Pup-Sysinfo:
▶—— CPU ——◀

64-bit capable: No

This is probably a Raspberry Pi 400 thing.
The CPU is probably able to do 64bit, but they have it set to report no for 64bit.

If you want me to give this a good workout and report all I find, I will.
So, far nothing really big for issues.
But are some small strange ones, like this Seamonkey freezing thing.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

Yeah, we know about SM freezing. It does "unfreeze", you just have to wait.
