Hi everyone. Dear friends, my modem wifi has spoken and - waiting for the provide that I send me a replacement - I purchased (since I don't have an Ethernet port) a USB 3.1 to Ethernet (Green Lyca adapter) plus a cat 5 cable to connect to the internet.
If I active Windows, the PC connects to the internet without intervention; then I work.
With Bookworm 12, no connection.
The images that illustrate the steps to activate internet via cable on Bookworm.
After the seventh image I stop.
Since I don't know how to behave: if I don't restart Peasywifi, it is not connected; If I restart Peasywifi I have to restart again(like ima 2); if I do quit it is not connected anyway ...
Someone shows me what can I do or where I'm wrong?.
Thanks Sonia

How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
Is there a reason that you are using static IP instead of DHCP? With DHCP, your router will automatically give you an IP address.
Were you using static when you connected with WiFi? What did your IP address look like then?
Where did you get the IP addresses that you are using with static? They look like external IP addresses. Usually, you would use an address on your internal LAN, like 192.168.2.100.
Once you have created the eth0.static file, you don't need to create it again. What happens if you click the Reconnect button? Do you get a proper Internet connection?
To use DHCP, all you need is the file eth0.dhcp. It will be empty. Make sure that the file eth0.static has been deleted. Click Reconnect.
If this works, it should auto-connect at bootup.

To add to Bill's answer, perhaps the usb ethernet interface is named something else than eth0, check with ifconfig -a
(not sure though, but if so, you'll probably need to edit the 'interfaces' config file)

Sonia confirmed that it's eth0 in pic #5.

Thanks to both friends of the answers.
Then I try to answer the questions of RCrsn51 with the images. But first I answer: "is there a reason that you are using static IP instead of DHCP?"
yes, because the provider imposes the DSN 8.8.8.8 and this does not take me.
I secured that Eth0 Static is canceled.
Now the images of what I did after your info:
Here I left DHCP and then I performed the verification.
I started the reconnection
therefore the verification of the interface, and then, I launched Ffox but finds no internet.
Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
It looks like your machine has a valid IP address 192.168.1.204, so the only issue is setting the DNS server to 8.8.8.8
Go to /etc and create the file resolv.conf.head
Add the line: nameserver 8.8.8.8
Reboot
How were you setting up 8.8.8.8 when you were on wifi? I notice from your old posts that you once used this method to set up 1.1.1.1.

Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
When the wireless worked I had as DNS an automatic connection with Wlan0 to the Cloudflare server (1.1.1.1 - 1.0.0.1); never used 8.8.8.8.
I combine the images of those I have tried but still cannot connect.
Thanks again, Sonia
Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
Open a terminal and type: busybox ping 8.8.8.8
Do you get a reply?
Then do: busybox ping google.com
Click the Info button at the bottom of the PWF screen. Open the DNS and Routing tabs. Take pictures of them.
Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
Please also show me a picture of the Routing tab.
Try: busybox ping 192.168.1.1
Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
Something is preventing you from pinging your own router. Do you have a firewall running?

Re: How to connect Internet via USB Ethernet Adapter
RC51, as soon as I turned off the firewall ... everything has connected to Internet.
Sorry for having engaged you throughout this time because of my ignorance on the configuration of the firewall; but I have never configured it and I have always used standards in Bookworm.
So not knowing it I didn't imagine that the DHCP service was not active.
Now I have activated DHCP server and everything works regularly with the FW ON.
Thanks again RC51. Your perspicacity and competence has proved to be fundamental and
have been useful for my education.
