I really need pcmanFM as file manager in EasyOS_daedalus [SOLVED]

Hello everybody:

I tried to work with rox, It is useful and fast, but it makes me work slowly.

I really need pcmanFM as file manager in EasyOs_daedalus.

Can you help me to install it, please?

I tried with the Package Managers, I download it directly from sourceforge (debian and bookworm versions .deb) I don't know what to do.

I know this is a very particular necessity, but I need it for my work, to move files between different disks, partitions, copy them...

Please, let me know what must I do.

(now I'm working with ScarthGap, because it is prepared as I need, but I like to work with Daedalus mod, because only when working with it I can find problems)

Yes, pcmanfm is installable via PKGget in Scarthgap.

I'm surprised that it isn't in the Devuan Daedalus repository.
...I suppose you did try to find it in PKGget?
(I'm running Scarthgap right now, can't check for myself)

In fact, I have been surprised a couple of times just the past week, what isn't in the debian/devuan repo.
Aqualung audio player for example. The was another, can't recall right now.

Very surprising, debian is supposed to have a repo with just about everything.

Remembered another one debian hasn't got: seamonkey

It is a bad new, because as I told I really need it as file manager, because I need its characteristics.

What about XFE? Does the same problen exist?

My linux knowledge doesn't allow me to prepare it to be used with easyos daedalus, can u consider installing it (pcmanfm) for your next easyos daedalus (6.4) (I will be really thankfull)?

First of all, excuse me for my "incorrect" explanation when I said "it is not at PKGget".

I should said "The PKGget version is not functional for me at EasyOs_daedalus·".

As Caramel and the rest of users ( @n00b ) said, it is at PKGget, but I installed the four files that appear there and PcManFm doesn't work for me in daedalus. I suppose I didn't install some dependencies (I don't know which one/-s).

To install dependencies with PKGget, click on EXAMINE ( left bottom ) in the preinstall dialog window

I was in a hurry and I forgot ONE (libqt5x11extras5_5.15.8-2)
So when I installed this library I had pcmanfm WORKING (1.3.2 without problems... I must try it , but the previous version with errors when working on icons....but it is not important, I gonna use 1.3.2 vs).

Thanks for your help. CONSIDER THIS QUESTION SOLVED (but I have the same idea, @BarryK , It will be marvellous to include it in daedalus 6.4 )

Looks like you have installed both pcmanfm AND pcmanfm-qt (the latter is QT based).
I guess that you need only pcmanfm (GTK based) (on that the icons are showing properly, on pcmanfm-qt that's a problem).

Ah, pcmanfm is in Daedalus PKGget!!!!

You really should have read the instructions when using PKGget.
After clicking on the pcmanfm entry, the next window states to click on the "Examine dependencies" button to make sure all dependencies are found and installed (as Caramel explained above).

Anyway, now you know.

And no, I won't be including pcmanfm builtin in Daedalus (or Scarthgap) 6.4. Most users are, I think, happy enough with ROX-Filer. Some users may have a pet file manager that they like, and they can install that. There is no consensus that there is only one file manager that must be builtin.

I haven't checked, but Daedalus probably has a dozen or so file managers to choose from. Scarthgap has several... Gnome Commander, Midnight Commander, Nautilus, PCManFM, SpaceFM, Thunar, and ROX-Filer. So a user can install their favourite.

Also, as fredx181 posted, there are two different versions of pcmanfm, one for the gtk gui toolkit, another for qt. Clicking on "pcmanfm" and then "examine dependencies" as shown in photos posted by Caramel, will install the gtk version. Installing both... I don't know, there might be conflicts.

You can download them from the net without problem, simply search google for the logo of the web you wanna make the direct link and use it.-

Just in case you wanna earn time, I include a link for you where you can download 261 icons ready to use.

They are hosted in google drive free for everybody.
