O think the most common way of selecting a pile of files is to select the first file and the last one holding Shift. When I'm trying this in EasyOS Rox-Filer, with Shift my file opens in Geany. How do I select files "from - to"?

Re: Files selecting "from - to"
The only way I've ever done it in Rox is to left-click a little above the first file or directory, hold and drag down to below the last file or directory that I want to include. Sometimes it takes a few tries to find the right spot to begin.

Re: How to batch-select files in Rox?
What works for me is the select the start file with the "up" "down" arrows. When the start file is outlined, I press the space bar to select that file. Pressing space bar again will select the next on down...

Wait... Do I get it right - do you mean if I have hundreds of files I have to either select each one or drag a mouse selection? No way of Windows' „Shift-method“ when you select the first file and the last one with Shift (which makes 2 clicks)?

Ctrl + left-click on the first file will highlight that file without opening it, then Ctrl + left-click on the last file will highlight that file without opening it. Now the first and last files are highlighted, but I can't find a way to include all the files in between, other than the way I already described.

Why do you open a new thread - again in the wrong forum as BarryK pointed out - with the same question?
Selecting multiple files in ROX-Filer
And no, what you ask for unfortunately can't be done in ROX-Filer.
BTW: The topic has been discussed over and over again. I recommend to search before posting

Yes, and then as with Thunar for example one can then use ctl-mouse click to de-select files.
