Well, honestly. If ya spend all your time on FaceBook - or "Meta" as I believe it's now called - what DO you expect..?
Never had the time of day for social media. It's nowt but a placebo for the masses...summat to keep 'em quiet, and distract them from what's really going on in the background. You "reap what you sow"...

The common practice today of perpetually pointing out how Big Tech/Social Media are screwing us, yet continuing to use their frameworks is obviously not going to change a thing.
The only recourse is to divorce oneself as much as possible from using any of their "services." All of them: facebook/instagram/X/amazon/ebay/paypal/google/microsoft/mac/etc....
Almost impossible, I know. But you have to start somewhere. A phone that doesn't log in to google or mac. search aggregators instead of their websites. It's often a huge inconvenience. My wife is always asking me why I have to map and print directions from open maps when I leave for somewhere unfamiliar, because I don't have google-maps installed on my phone. My answer:is simply: "Screw them, that's why."
They can find out where I went through all their other data points, sure, but I'm not simply going to consent to handing it over willingly. Participating only encourages it, gives them the green light.
I also choose to tell some of my employers that I'm not able or willing to access their online collaborative services. If they like my performance enough, they will work with me. If they insist I do it their way, I look for other work. Of course I'm not a corporate guy by temperament and design.
All of this working against the grain apparently will now include the simple choice of using linux. It looks like everything we do online will soon need to use "official" browsers running on "approved" OS's,
Some of us have been practicing going off-line some day, because honestly it will probably come down to that. It will suck, yes. But I'm determined to still have a conscience when it's over, maybe limited access to most everything, but I won't be gas-lit. Or totally lost as to how to keep functioning when that day comes.
