ethernet tethering setup?

i'm connecting a usb wifi device [with pw] OR a usb gateway, to an ethernet cable and to my pc in preparation for an ATA and telephone. i don't understand how to config the /etc/conman/main.config file to run the pc on the internet. wise guideance appreciated. i guess this won't work because of 2 internet drivers req'd. can't get config info for ata from isp either.
