How do I install LXDE on Puppex Noble?

Post by Luluc »

I am tinkering with puppex-noble64-uefi-rox-desktop-939mb-241028. I installed LXDE via Synaptic and can't figure out how to let it take over. I tried tweaking .xinitrc but couldn't find the correct way to do it. Openbox runs, but it seems jwm is still running at the same time and the lxpanel looks "cut-off" on the right-hand end. I see there is also /etc/windowmanager but changing it to openbox or lxdesession-default doesn't help either. What is the secret formula?

Change to startlxde - but there is lots of other "config" needed as well.........

Builder of LxPups, SPups, UPup32s, VoidPups; LXDE, LXQt, Xfce addons; Chromium, Firefox etc. sfs; & Kernels

Just tried on vanilladpup and BookwormPup64. Can't make it work properly. If anybody out there has the formula, please. I'll appreciate it.

Bonus points if your formula allows LXDE to change/control the colors of the widgets.

Have you tried peebee's LXDE via ydrv.sfs? He releases several, I use the one for Slackware based
Pups myself. Download his sfs, then rename it to match the name of you Pup's base SFS, but with
like ydrv_s15pup32_22.12.sfs as in my case, your base Puppy sfs will be different. Then, reboot.

I wish it would just work with the regular synaptic installation. Some old puppies (or dogs?) would let us choose between JWM and Openbox so it's definitely doable. I just wish I knew how so I could apply it to other canine creatures.
