@Sofiya you've done it AGAIN! Very good effort to lead a design for including a full feature VM solution into this distro with steps that must be followed for integration to be useful and effortless.

I am in the process of upgrading a PC with RAM that will be used for expanding my testing. I envision to setup a virtual network with a couple PCs that mimic my home network of couple PCs. This allows me to test various home app deployment, virtually, before attempting (really 'experimenting') before actual use in the home's LAN.

Your KDE project is a logical step, for me, as it has all of the expected foundational subsystems that most Linux distros will have built-in OOTB before middle of 2025; namely QT6, Pipewire, and Wayland.

What you have done and what @rockedge is doing, with your VM FORESIGHT ,is significant for both developers and users in this forum community in so many ways not to mention the fact that the PC used as a VM host can be setup to appear as if it is several separate PCs running different distros on the single physical box.

Both of you are making this so easy and so simple for this packaging to be immediately helpful to any user without all the mistakes that are made by anyone starting from scratch.

I offer this for Your and @tockedge's consideration to build in to your distros: Forum member @norgo's QEMU READY facility because of the useful information exposed when it is run to setup KVM for system use.

Nice strategic move by both of you.

Thus, I would expect users to use it as a part of initial setup (or as a part of) of Virt Manager.

  1. Install Virt facilities

  2. Install & RUN qemu_ready

  3. setup permissions

  4. Run VMs as needed.

That utility, QEMU_READY, makes these manual steps unnecessary. because the command accomodates ALL x86 PCs with extra info status.

...

Don't forget to load the appropiate KVM module for your CPU (x86 only):

  • ...
modprobe kvm-amd # for AMD CPUs
modprobe kvm-intel # for Intel CPUs

...

I think this is helpful to everyone. Thanks

Hello @Sofiya

I was looking over KDE 6.2.1, today. Also saw this video review.

For this KL what do you recommend to upgrade?

  • Wait for next ISO upgrade to get to latest KDE

  • Use the package manager for a system upgrade (assuming it will also upgrade KDE to 6.2.1)

Curious

Hi @Clarity

Use a package manager to update your system.

The thing is that Void is not in a hurry to update the package database, so it is not known when version kde 6.2.1 will appear on their horizon, let's hope that soon. ;) after of course we can build ISO with the latest version "or rather intermediate"

Hello.

I completed a NEW setup on an OLD PC. Fixed memory issues and change the video card to another nVidia adapter as there seemed to some minor issues with its old nvidia. All/many/most future boot tests 'may' be when using this refreshed PC.

BAre-metal
Launched Ventoy, selected this KLV KDE. It booted, pristine taking the RAM0 boot-menu option, to desktop. The date on this PC is off so I right-click the taskbar clock to reset the date-time.

Advice requested: On how to best address this problem shown by the message after I hit the Apply-button:

.
Also, I am not sure how to switch user to "root", if this is necessary, to have admin privileges for this action from the taskbar.

KLV KDE v1.2

On an upgraded PC, I have a unique operational problem. If no activity on the desktop, the PC goes to sleep and never returns on bare-metal.

??? The ONLY solution to this sleep state is "cold" boot. ???

Thus any session work is lost.

Not sure how to address this: Maybe the first step to resolution is to turn off the ability for my KLV to go to sleep until a resolution is available. This KLV does NOT discover and use the nvidia adapter update that may resolve this lock-up problem as this problem is not happening with the v1.2 of the KLA KDE where the adapter is discovered and used at boot time.

With the KLA, the sleep recovery is via a sign-in screen to get back to desktop.

Install Nvidia drivers what's the problem?

sudo xbps-install -Su nvidia Vulkan-Headers nvidia-opencl nvidia-firmware

@Clarity
If you mean suspend,
pressing the power button should wake from suspend.
Just a quick normal press and release,
do not press and hold the button.

If the power button won't wake it,
try typing cat /proc/acpi/wakeup in a terminal.
Is there anything like PB disabled ?

Thanks @williams2 But, tried the quick-press before as one of the techniques to get the system to respond before posting, as well.

I will try the terminal command you suggest next time I boot that PC will this distro.

KLV-plasma-KDE-CE-1.3

Notification:
The build plugin has been significantly updated and improved.

Added Samba service.
TLP added --- system performance optimization service
Tuned --- Of course it would be better, but unfortunately Void did not bother to compile this package, for unknown reasons

  • TLP is a feature-rich command line utility for Linux, saving laptop battery power without the need to delve deeper into technical details.

TLP’s default settings are already optimized for battery life, so you may just install and forget it.

Nevertheless TLP is highly customizable to meet your specific requirements.

Added TLP UI

  • GTK-UI to change TLP configuration files easily

  • Conky configuration file has been replaced

Would a chart similar to this be helpful in the KL area for the KL KDE offerings?
