I have a user that is bothered by this system info. I tried to search for it... but not knowing the name makes that really tough. =) Is it easy to disable?

Your picture shows Conky. radky explained how to 'turn it off' here, https://www.forum.puppylinux.com/viewto ... 182#p89182.
I prefer pWidgets. Opened applications will cover both. But I prefer the information pWidgets can display. There's a bunch, more having to do with real-world events than what's happening under the hood: things like Time and Date and how fast my wifi is working. Under most puppys pWidgets can display an analog clock. There are hundreds of clock-faces that can be used and several themes; enough so that pWidgets can be configured to complement whatever wallpaper suites one's fancy.
For example,

Don't forget, guys; under the hood, pWidgets is using Conky anyway. But, as @mikeslr says, where Conky itself tends to concentrate more on system readouts, pWidgets displays a far more generalised set of useful info...
Personally, as I think most of you have seen, I use a "mix" of pWidgets AND Bill Wilson's marvellous gKrellM to let me keep an eye on what's happening.
I's all down to personal taste in the end.
Mike.

Re: What is the "widget" of system info called?
Thank you all! Love having all those options. I consolidated the steps if anyone else is interested.
Changing the permissions of these 4 to non executable was simple enough. Thanks radky for the solution!
radky wrote: Mon May 15, 2023 2:34 amRather than deleting the default conky executable scripts, you could make them non-executable so there should be no interference with you preferred use of pwidgets. That is, change the permissions of the following files to non-executable:
/root/Startup/conkystart
/usr/bin/conky-gtk
/usr/local/bin/conky-restart
/usr/local/bin/conky-stop

I tried using the package manager but failed to find pWidgets 2.6 Instead I found it in this forum post. Is it located in Pet's n Stuff too?

And... 1 hour later I find the Conky settings. Is there a bonus to changing the permissions over disabling in that tool?

@theroar84 to remove it immediately on terminal: killall conky &
usually hiding in /root/Startup folder and can remove it OR maybe hiding in /root/.config/autostart folder as a desktop. Just remove the offending file/link and on reboot it will not load.

@gychang :-
TBH, Greg, I don't tend to actually remove stuff like that, "just in case". All I do is kill the exec permissions.....which will also prevent it from 'loading'.

theroar84, " Is it located in Pet's n Stuff too?"
Link to pWidget's thread, viewtopic.php?p=1512#p1512. Note there are several versions; on some older Puppys an older version may work better. On that thread is also a link to Catdude's 231 analog clock skins. Clock skins are graphics in 'png' format, editable under graphic applications. They install to /usr/local/pwidgest/widgets/clock_skins.

For EasyOses:
Scartgaph & Quantum Vis (QV) -- No analog clock display.
Kirkstone & Daedalus -- OK
