IIRC, in ungoogled chromium you have to use "developer mode" in the extension settings to install some extensions.
I'm not at my old Acer Aspire at the moment, but that is what I remember having to do to install uBlock Origin.
In some of the older ungoogled versions, there was an extension, the name escapes me now, that you had to load
in order to even download newer V3 extensions.

But I was not referencing Google Chrome, but in ungoogled chromium, which is what the topic seems to be about.
Even in "regular" chromium releases, to best of my memory, you enable developer and then you can install extension of choice,
if supported by chromium. Heck with Google Chrome! Never touched it, no desire, don't even use Google Search and haven't
in over 12 years! But that's a completely different topic, LOL!

You only need to install it manually (developer mode) if you can't install it from Chrome Web Store. This is typically the case if your browser version is too old and Chrome Store does not allow you to install. In this scenario you need to find the source files (normally somewhere on Github) to install it manually. But his version is Ungoogled Chromium (I've never used that) so not sure if one can install from the Chrome Store with that or that it has issues either way..

Our providers are blocking YouTube right now. For some it doesn't work at all, and for some it works, but VERY slowly. My provider uses DPI. I am successfully bypassing this barrier so far. But they change the lock settings every week and I have to select new settings.

Why am I saying all this? I like Chromium, but it looks like I'll have to move to the Fox. There, the V2 manifest will work and DPI bypass works much easier and better. I even finally found a way to enable tab rewinding with the mouse wheel in Firefox. And still, the Fox is kind of clumsy

Chromium Web Store! (your github link above) That's what I was trying to think of earlier!! Yes, you install that add-on in ungoogled chromium, then you
can install other extensions, or you can use developer mode, or combine them! Thanks for jogging my memory!
As for your problems with youtube being blocked, I don't have an answer. Most of the time I access youtube videos via duckduckgo searches, I don't
use youtube much at all. Guess a solution for you will depend upon your usage, like how often, how much, what type video.
Oh, just remembered, IF you decide to use Firefox or derivative such as Palemoon, do a search for Astroskippers modified uBlock Origin, I use that with
Palemoon in my Pups, and with New Moon in WinXP!
