PS. bleepingcomputer is a malware site, IMHO.

Er....huh?? 'Scuse me?? Pardon my confusion here, but......what on earth are you running on about? From what dark recess of your mind did you drag that "pearl of wisdom" up from? :? And what does it have to do with this thread, anyway...?

I don't think so! I joined there way back in 2015, and have been on the staff since early 2020 as a moderator.

BleepingComputer was founded way back in 2003, as a site for assisting Windows users with any and all issues, including - naturally! - the all-too-prevalent virus/malware attacks (and latterly, ransomware attacks). They have a dedicated sub-forum for all this, manned by a team of members who have been trained in how to deal with this kind of stuff. Said members have been trained through BC's own online "college"......which is recognised as a top-tier organisation by the entire global infosec community, and has been for years.

Of course you're going to find malware there, and LOTS of discussion about such. That's the site's primary 'stock in trade', after all....

It would be appreciated if you didn't "slag off" what is almost an institution in the Windows world....apparently, just for the hell of it.

Mike. :o

Sorry, but that is my observation and verified personal experience. And I stand by it 100%. The forum there was a hotbed for crackers (I don't know if it still is).
PS. It was you who brought up that site by including it in your LAUNCH script for LibreWolf.

@Governor :-

Hm. Coo, I'd completely forgotten I used to launch browsers that way at one time.....by including URLs as arguments on the exec line! It was a brief experiment; only lasted a few months. That 'LAUNCH' script obviously dates from that period.

As for BC being full of malware.....what kind of time frame are we looking at when you visited it? Since COVID, or before? During the early COVID years, we were frequently snowed-under with literal tsunamis of spam. It was often coming in faster than a team of 10 mods could cope with it.....until the guv'nor put together some automated scripts to help us keep on top of things.

At that time, I agree; a random, 'snapshot' visit would easily give the impression that the place was full of nothing but junk. It's often not helped by the fact that some members, despite being asked to zip malware 'examples' as an attachment for the attention of the Malware Removal Assistance team, will insist on posting it as full plain text in open forum! But I, too, stand by MY statement; you WILL find plenty of malware there, because that's one of the main things BC was originally founded to help people deal with. It's a bit of a 'circular' argument, that one...

But you will have your own opinion. That's up to you.

(*shrug...*)

Besides the thing about BleepingComputer. (very off-topic IMO)
Don't know if you read the posts from me on the previous page. Any chance that you update your LibreWolf portable share ? (the LAUNCH script can be much better, if I may say so ;) )

(*shrug...*) ;) :D

Fred :D

EDIT; Sorry, on second thought, instead of putting pressure on you, Mike, I'll make a new LibreWolf portable setup as I think best, will share soon here.

I was a member of the help forum at Bleepingcomputer long before the "pandemic". Must be over 20 years ago. I was there about two weeks and left when I observed certain unsavory things that were going on. It was an open forum anyone could join.

Yah, it's probably better if you do a build yourself, Fred. I'm not being funny when I say that; I don't even use LibreWolf myself. It was more of an exercise to see if I could do what folks were wanting a while back, that's all.....

I wouldn't be putting my best effort into it, know what I mean?

Mike. ;)

Ok, thanks Mike, decided to open a new thread for it: (this thread became rather chaotic IMO), see: viewtopic.php?t=12916
