Non Dell toner stops cups printing(Solved)

Post by number77 »

Hello
I am running xenial64 on a dell Latitude e6230. Also have fossapup and dpup.
I have a Dell CN3000 colour laser with non standard toner. I have set up printer with cups but get no further than, sending to printer before non Dell toner comes up on the printer and it does not print. Is it possible to modify anything in cups to allow non standard toner.
Windows xp does print so the printer is working.
Help appreciated.
Thanks

non Dell toner

It's not clear if this is just a warning message or a job-killing error.

What make/model did you select in CUPS? What driver is being used? OpenPrinting suggests that this printer should work OOTB by using their PPD file.

Dell 1355 was recommended with foomatic/foo2hbp12.
I have downloaded your recommended ppd file so will try that. Thanks.

The ppd file works perfectly. Thank you for that.
It is once more a useful printer and my only colour laser.
Once again thanks rcrsn51.

Excellent. This PPD uses a CUPS tool called foomatic-rip. It will be interesting to see if this also works in recent Puppies. IIRC, there were some problems with it.
