Imagine... imagine..... and now it is/was REAL !!!
https://pp4mnkpuppyblog.wordpress.com/2 ... a-library/
"The potential loss of Internet Archive would be an unimaginable disruption to the preservation of human knowledge and culture. This digital library, with its vast collection of websites, books, films, and more, serves as a critical resource for historians, researchers, educators, and the general public. It is an irreplaceable time capsule of the digital age, documenting everything from historical events to fleeting internet trends. If Internet Archive were to be compromised or lost, the cultural and intellectual vacuum left behind would be immense, erasing parts of history that may no longer exist anywhere else.
I can only hope such a catastrophe never occurs, as the consequences could be severe, impacting not only academia but also our collective understanding of the digital past. The disruption it would cause is difficult to overstate, and it reminds us of how fragile even our most robust digital institutions can be. We must do everything in our power to safeguard it for future generations."
AND IT HAPPENED !!

Re: Imagine if ALL 'Collective' History was erased and mankind had to start over
I think there are a number of precedents for the behaviour of "starting over".
It sometimes suits the specific agendas of the "powerful" - for ordinary citizens to have the past erased - ready to allow "re-programming" with a new reality.
I think we saw a similar thing with 911. A single event focused Western thoughts onto the idea that there was a single enemy - OsamaBinLaden and friends.
Of course the new "reality" was not "actual" reality. Each new generation only understands what is "front-of-mind". We are programmed by propaganda rather than by accurate information of the past.
It would suit the "powerful" to have Linux (and other forms of individuality) scrubbed from the public's memory. Just like "cash".
The "book-burners" are always with us. It suits their search for power and control.
Will be interesting to watch what happens over the next decade.
