Seamonkey email error msg: Not enough disk space. (Solved)

Post by Mercedes350se »

I have a Bionic32 frugal install using seamonkey email. The mail folder is in /mnt/home symlinked from the original location so there is plenty of disk space.

This morning checking the email I get an error message:

"Alert
There is not enough disk space to download new messages. Try deleting old mail, emptying the Deleted folder, and compacting your mail folders, and then try again.
OK"

Trying to delete an email results in exactly the same error message!!

Ideas please.

did you get the same message when you tried compacting?

how big is your mail folder compared to the availble space?

Yes. After deleting a raft of emails and compacting I still get the same message.

The mail folder is /mnt/home/mail which contains two folders so should be no issue with space.

After deleting stuff in the E-mail folder.
Shutdown and restart Seamonkey mail to see if that has any affect.

The mail folder is in /mnt/home symlinked from the original location

What is the format of the partition that is /mnt/home?
/mnt/home is the partition the save file/folder is located.

What is the format of the partition that is this original location?

Is this original location partition always mounted?
Set to auto mount, at boot up, with setting in Pmount program?

If any of them are formatted fat32, that is probably the problem.
Fat32 does not support symbolic links.

What type save are you using?
Save file or folder?

Why not just make this other location the mail folder that is directly used by Seamonkey.
Seamonkey directly places mail in it.

Please answer all questions.
The answers will determine what you need to do.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older.
This is not what I expected :o

What a drag it is - getting old!

I was looking at the save file space remaining but not the partition space. Checking, just now, the partition is full.

Duh!
