BookwormPup64 10.0.7 how to get working install?

Post by karlson »

[solved]

I would like to install these versions normally, I used to be able to do this with Puppy. Is there a way to do this?
The frugal installation with the 4Dos boot manager was not successful. Is there perhaps a wiki that explains how to get this Debian Puppy onto the hard drive as a normal installation with the normal Grub boot manager already installed?
Thanks!
Karlson

PS.
And I find no "langpack_DE" in puppy-noarch. Earlier puppies had these packages, what happened?

Here is the direct link to the Puppy noarch repository with language packs:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... es-noarch/

No one has reported using these language packs in BookwormPup64.
So not sure they will still work in it.

A lot of stuff is new in BookwormPup64.

BookwormPup64 has Puppy Package Manager, but not setup to really get much software specifically for Puppy Linux.
It is only there to provide support for pet packages you may install. A way to uninstall them.

BookwormPup64 is using APT and Synaptic package managers for installing software.
But they only access Debian Linux repositories.

The things you do not tell us, are usually the clue to fixing the problem.

@karlson

Is your bios/setup set for UEFI or Legacy/MBR booting?

Hi wizard, sorry for the delay, we are on vacation.
This is an older laptop without UEFI.

@bigpup
Can't I add the repository to Puppy Package Manager?

Greetings

@karlson

In general, look here:
viewforum.php?f=184

For installation specific info look here:
viewtopic.php?t=5192
and
viewtopic.php?t=5241

Athough there are references to older Pups, the procedures should still apply to BW64 10.0.7

It is kind of in PPM, but not setup to access all that is in Puppy noarch repository.
Most of the stuff is too old for BookwormPup64.

The Puppy Package Manager (PPM) in BookwormPup64 is not a fully working PPM.
It is there to provide a way to uninstall pet packages if you install one.

BookwormPup64 is using Apt and Synaptic package managers for adding software.

Have no idea if language packs are available from them.
But if they are, most likely they are for Debian Linux.
