How to update glibc in S15pup64?

Post by WN2A »

Hello All!
I have been running S15pup64 22.12 Build 240612 with great success. One of the programs I use (Qucs-S version 24.2.0) works great on Build 240612, but Qucs-S recently issued an upgrade (improved simulator, device models, etc) now called Qucs-S 24.3.0. This meant that in upgrading from Qt 5.12.8 to Qt6 it also brought about the need for glibc-2.34 and glibc-2.35.

Are the more recent builds of S15pup64 22.12 supporting these newer glibc's?

Is there a way to add glibc-2.34 and glibc-2.35 to build 240612 with glibc-2.33 already installed?

Thanks for the great distro!

peebee (via PM) answered one part of the question:

Slackware sticks with the same glibc for the lifetime of a release. So Slackware-15.0 will always be glibc-2.33

He also said 15.1 has support for glibc 2.40

So one way is to wait for a new release of S15pup64 that may have it.

Another way, that I asked about, was to patch S15pup64 22.12 with newer glibc
That could be messy? I know I did something like that with libtinfo, and it worked.

Flash: Have any ideas I could try. Or just wait?--Thanks In Advance
